One immediate rumour/theory that went around with the public announcement of the widowed Jackie Kennedy and Aristotle Onasis (Greek Shipping Tycoon) dating was that he was the one who paid for the "hit" on JFK to steal Jackie for his own.

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacqueline_Kennedy_Onassis
"Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis (July 28, 1929 – May 19, 1994[1]) was the wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, and served as First Lady during his presidency from 1961 until his assassination in 1963. She was later married to Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis from 1968 until his death in 1975. For the final two decades of her life, she had a successful career as a book editor. She is remembered for her contributions to the arts and preservation of historic architecture, her style, elegance and grace.[2][3] "

I remember a photo that was published internationally of him sitting with Jackie - was it at a funeral ? Maybe someone can post that.
